After riding both bikes it is hard to decide which is better. For around the island of Maui you don't need all the power of the Burgman, but its nice to have just in case. The silver Wing is a little smaller, but for going around town its perfect size and can get in and out of the smallest of places. I love them both but for me the burgman is probably a little more comfortable because I'm an extra large guy.

Thanks for taking the time to produce such a non-biased review. Since recently selling my 1977 GL1000 I have been contemplating purchasing a used "scooter". My 59 year old British heart says Vespa (Mods and Rockers / Quadrophenia)but after reading this article my head says Burgman 650. Looking forward to many adventures touring the backroads of Ontario.

When these larger Scooters (Step-Thru Motorcycles) were produced I thought that they would be called the Cheap-Guy`s Goldwing.Or Smart man`s Goldwing ? Now I believe it. I have enjoyed a 650 V-Strom for the past 6 seasons and now I want the Burgman 650.
A friend in Ontario went from a Harley Ultra Classic to the Burgman-650 and he can`t stay off it!
I rented a 250 Scooter on Maui and rode the Hana-Hwy so much fun and so easy!
Thanks for the write-up.

February 18, 2011 - The temp had risen to just above 50 degrees (f). In Chicagoland, that's very unusual. So I couldn't resist taking my Kymco 250 Grand Vista out for a spin for the 1st time of the new year. I love my scooter. It can do 65 MPH with a passenger on board all day long. Add in the amazing 63 MPG and it's a great "little" scooter. And at age 62, the bike makes me feel younger.

So where did I go on my inaugural 2011 trip..? Just 25 miles. 1st my daughter's house and then straight to Monster Powersports my local powersports dealer where I bought my Kymco. I had been spying a Burgman 650 on display all winter long and this day was going to be my day to test ride one of the two Big Boys. All I can say is OMG..! Stepping up from a 250CC Kymco to a 650CC Burgman is like 16 inch softball compared to major league baseball. What a ride..! Amazing smooth acceleration, super comfortable seat, plenty of length to stretch my legs, surprisingly smooth ride and easily cruise at 70 MPH with plenty of power still in reserve and of course, the big bike feel. I was hooked. I'm all in to purchase one of the big scooters this Spring.

But I also heard great comments about Honda's 600 Silverwing. And the name automatically equates it to Honda's world class Goldwing motorcycle and Honda's excellence in engineering. Having only ridden the Burgman, I could only imagine the ride of the Silverwing. When I found your article, I read it twice to make sure I absorbed every word. What a great review right down to the smallest detail for both bikes. From rough country roads to expressway cruising, your article covered it all. Having ridden the Burgman, I concur every comment about it in your article. But now I have a heads up on what to expect from the Silverwing when I take it out for a test cruise. I can hardly wait to compare notes with you.

I plan on doing a ton of touring in 2011 with full weekend trips already planned. Having only ridden the Burgman and after reading your article, I'll admit I'm leaning towards the Burgman. However, you make many good comments about the Silverwing as well. So until I ride the Silverwing, I'm still very open minded about which one to buy. Thanks for not only a great article and review of both bikes, but also for teaching me what to look for and how to test drive a big bike scooter.
