While en-route they encounter natural wonders, wildlife, colorful characters, tourism hot spots and destinations well off the beaten track.

The UTBDR is an 871 mile off-road route that starts in Mexican Hat and runs north across the state of Utah to the Idaho border near Bear Lake. The UTBDR passes through a number of iconic locations including Moab, Valley of the Gods, the Abajo and La Sal Mountain Ranges, Nine Mile Canyon and the northern Wasatch Mountains.

Joe & Flora of Curbsyde Productions were at the Shelton Valley Dual-Sport & Adventure ride in Washington hosted by The Puget Sound Enduro Riders and supported by Touratech-USA. Amazing riding and scenery made this a “not to be missed” motorcycle event for 2011.

This northern alberta episode is a mix of cold temperatures, winter conditions, and northern Canadian culture. Featuring ice fishing on Alberta’s largest lake, the team tries their luck at catching pike at minus 30 below. It’s then on to Canada’s oil producing capital Fort McMurray, with a much needed rest before tackling one of Canada’s least traveled ice roads. The first of two major winter roads (ice roads) begins 60km’s north of Fort McMurray. The riders prepare themselves for their greatest challenge yet. Between rough snow patches, empty roads, and slow speed crashes, this is the start of the serious winter hardships.

Beginning in Peace River, the adventure suddenly becomes even more real as the threat of a severe winter weather warning has the team on full alert for their longest leg yet. Battling through temperatures of -30 C, the team heads northward into Northern Alberta. This northern Alberta episode is a mix of cold temperatures, winter conditions, and northern Canadian culture.

The RWC: North team leave from Victoria BC, on their arctic journey. On the very first day they encounter more than they bargained for with a major snow storm. Then it’s the transition from mild temperatures and urban centres to hard packed snow and small communities.

The Reconnecting With Canada: North crew are heading, as you would expect, North. Unlike most motorcyclists they aren’t waiting for clear skies and warm days, they are doing the ride in winter. Join the team of riders Joe Lloyd and Paul Mondor and support drivers Jesse Clark and Flora Lloyd as they prepare the bikes for the trip.

Back on the mainland, Joe & Flora explore the Gaspesie peninsula and some of the odd inhabitants at Bonaventure Island. Then its back to the St. Lawrence river and the heart of french Canada, Montreal!

Curbsyde’s second Newfoundland episode showcases some more amazing scenery and marine life. Joe & Flora experience some great Newfoundland hospitality, and interesting characters before making it to the furthest eastern point of the Reconnecting With Canada series; Signal Hill.

Curbsyde’s traveling duo make it to Canada’s most eastern province of Newfoundland. A land known for it’s majestic scenery, fishing villages, and moose are sure to captivate Joe & Flora as they explore the Western side of this maritime province.

Joe and Flora finish Quebec with a visit to the amazing Bioparc, then the two head to Canada’s pristine maritime provinces and visit the Fairmont Algonquin’s happy canine ambassador “Smudge”. Then its onward towards the famous Cabot Trail!

Joe & Flora enter the famous Charlevoix region. One of North America’s oldest holiday making spots, and for good reason! Then it’s off to visit Jordy at the Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu before making their way along the St. Lawrence river into the Quebec Maritimes.

Joe & Flora meet a polar bear named Nanook, then it’s off to the French speaking province of Quebec. Famous for amazing food and scenery, not to mention some nation changing history. Flora even gets a chance to do a little dog walking!

Joe & Flora ride Manitoba from north to south stopping at the ever popular Riding Mountain National Park. Then it’s time to meet up with some riders from previous destinations and travel across Ontario.

Joe & Flora explore Alberta in more detail. Stopping to gaze at grazers and stepping back to stream powered thrashers, they make their way to Lesser Slave Lake in time for Canada Day. Then it’s on to Alberta’s capitol for some touring.

Joe & Flora enter northern Alberta and find themselves discovering interesting heritage and people on all fronts. From Historic Dunvegan, they meet a First Nation’s elder, a mennonite village, and one amazing blacksmith’s shop. Of course what’s a visit to Alberta without a bit of cowboy fun as well!
