I don’t like salesman Jack much; my inner voice has dubbed him Jack, short for “Jackass”. Despite my introduction including I’m a former BMW R1200GS rider, he’s walked me over to a bike that, “would be perfect for me.” It is a KLR 250. A 250. I repeat, a 250. So what’s delivered me into the hands of the sexist now HOLDING THE HANDLEBARS FOR ME? As if I, a girl, couldn’t possibly hold the meagre 250 up by myself.

Following KTM’s withdrawal from the ASO’s “Dakar” Rally due a ruling limiting motorcycles to 450ccs, the Austrian manufacturer will be supporting customers participating in Africa Eco Race 2010.

On June 4th, 2009 the Amaury Sport Organization, or ASO, the organizers of the “South American Dakar“ changed the face of the rally by announcing from 2010 onwards motorcycle’s would be capped at 450cc displacement. A mandate that forces KTM out of the Dakar and has financial consequences for teams and privateers alike.
